Kilwinning to Troon

Map 4 This section of the route is 12 miles in length and it starts from Kilwinning Abbey. Heading south making use of the Ayrshire Coastal Path as it heads first via Irvine then on to Troon. Some of the path is also designated as a part of National Cycle Route No. 7 and past Irvine most of the route is alongside the coast.

Places of interest on this section are the Garnock Flood Plain Nature Reserve and the Scottish Maritime Museum.

This section is already complete and frequently walked. For directional details simply click on this link and download instructions based on walking from Kilwinning to Troon. These directional instructions are based on key points along the route which are defined using grid reference numbers. The relevant Ordnance Survey map relating to this section are Explorer Nos. 333.

The section is also easily accessed as a days walking section that can be reached at either end by railway.
