SCOTTISH PILGRIM ROUTES ACCREDITATION SCHEME

Scotland's Pilgrim Routes are at various stages of development, from the early stages of conception to a fully functioning route with a broad range of amenities for long-distance walkers.

The accreditation scheme attempts to grade each route based on gold, silver or bronze standards to indicate the level of infrastructure and useability of the route.

The first award, a silver one, was awarded to the Forth to Farne Way in September.

The Accreditation Scheme encourages local steering groups to continue developing their routes to the highest standard at the same time as giving walkers an indication of what facilities they might expect to find along the way.
